Monica Stevenson Art Show

Winning Edge Saddlery to Host Show of Photographer Monica Stevenson’s Fine Art Equine Photography

Saturday December 15 from Noon til 5:00 PM

Winning Edge Saddlery is pleased to host a one- day show of Monica Stevenson’s fine art equine photography.  The show will feature a select group of Monica’s images and a portion of proceeds from the sale will benefit local Ocala charity; Horses N Heroes.  Stevenson’s fine art photography focuses on a subject increasingly integral to her life: horses. Her haunting black-and-white equine photographs gracefully capture horses relationship with their human companions and the environment. Her images are rich in feeling and texture, reflecting the enduring romance of equestrian tradition. Sometimes playful and other times mystical, the tone of the work reflects the historic bond between horse, man and nature. This series of images, shot with a vintage Rolleiflex camera and printed in a warm sepia tone, evokes an era of the handcrafted image.

Stevenson’s fascination with horses has taken her on journeys around the world. Her series includes images of snow polo in St. Moritz, summer polo in MontrĂ©al and Argentina, show jumpers from California, rejoneadores from Mexico and wild horses in France.  Her passionate and elegant photographs have already caused quite stir in equine circles worldwide, with the series being exhibited in galleries such as the Mercedes Benz galleries in New York City and the Katonah Museum of art, and as part of the permanent collection in the Focus Gallery, London. Stevenson spent several weeks in the summer of 2010 documenting the Arabian horse for H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi.  Stevenson plans to expand her work to include several more equestrian disciplines and geographic locations. Book and video projects are in the works and she is available to select clients for private commissions as well as advertising and editorial assignments. Her prints are also available through the newly launched website http://www.monicastevensonphotography.com.  For more information contact Susan Benson at 352 529 7409.  ****High Resolution Photos available upon request***

About Horses N Heroes
Founded by Mindy Nolan Ryan and based in Ocala, Florida, this 501c3 non profit is dedicated to providing an equine learning and mentoring experience for young girls who come from families with extreme financial constraints. There is no fee for participation in the program. These girls are given the opportunity to bond with horses and through that experience gain self esteem, and learn about, responsibility, team work, kind heartedness, commitment and much more. The girls are taught all aspects of horsemanship including but not limited to riding, grooming, feeding and caring for the donated horses. Students also are given the opportunity to show at local horse shows.
Horses N Heroes is about bringing horses and children together. In addition donated horses are given a second lease on life and are an important part of the program.
